Fun People and more than you'd think a Country Bar would be...

Our first full week in Las Vegas (new job brings me here!) and we just HAD to go out and start checking out the clubs. Charlie's had Fetish Friday going on so we of course wanted to see what that was all about. A fetish night? At a country bar? No, not a heavy leather scene or anything like that, but some people dressed in [pretty mild] fetish wear. You drank 9P - midnight FREE wells (or draft) if you were dressed for the event. All that was nice, but ever better - the people were really, really nice! An environment easy to talk to people. A nice dance floor though not many people dancing when we were there. Will have to check it out on other nights to see if that's different. Of the three bars we checked out this is our favorite so far!

Especially on Sunday late afternoon/evenings, Charlie's draws a great mix of more than just cowboys, just as more than a few pop/R&B/Latin songs are sprinkled between Strait and Swift (though the line dancers have steps for those too). The well-designed dance floor is large enough to accommodate plenty of two-steppers, but located away from the entrance/bars/restrooms/gathering areas, helping the thick crowd flow a bit quicker at the busiest times. Much like the same-named locations in Phoenix, Denver, and Chicago, the former Backstreet has learned how to incorporate country charm into a gay format that even disco bunnies can't resist every now and then, making this Charlie's as popular as the one in nearby Phoenix.

Rude and cowboy pretentious

I walked into this bar thinking that I would be welcomed with down home country hospitality, WRONG. Even though I don't fit the stetson wearing, wrangler sportin clientele that this bar seems to covet, I still enjoy country music and having a great time line dancin with my friends. The music was good to listen to, but waiting at the bar for over ten minutes for a bar tender to even acknowledge my presence, totally turned me off. When I was finally served, I felt like I was a total burden and should feel bad about ordering a beer. I felt this was the type of bar that restricts its hospitality for those that "fit" its "preferred" patrons rather than embracing the diversity that our community celebrates. So close to pride weekend, I would think this establishment would favor having new comers visit their digs; however, new faces seem to be unwelcomed and discouraged from venturing into this bar that lacks any sort of couteousness that one would expect. Thank you Charlie's staff for saving me the hassle of ever considering wandering in again.

Underwear Night Was a Blast!

My bartender was friendly and they didn't seem to mind that I was a tourist. Though it was kinda dead, it was fun just walking around in an out of town bar just in my undies : ) Don't be shy and just get down to your undies. If you do, you get free well drinks! If only they accepted cards, I would have given this place a 5th star.

Has a lot of fun events. Wednesday drink for free when your in your underwear. Sunday $2 long islands.....big country western and friendly laid back vibe. Always a blast

Place is just as fun as the old backstreet on Sunday nights. Gets busy later (9 pm) younger croud comes in. Bartenters are nice and friendly and very few lesbos (they like the fun hog ranch). Good drinks and a fun croud. Worth a missed flight!!!

Watch this joint. It could catch fire anytime. I don't think they have a fire alarm in there and the smoke get in the eyes, especially mine, and blinds me. I feel clausterphobic in there, but it's a nice feeling when the femmes are around to give me the treats I need to live. The cow pokes, or those who think they are prove worthless to such a vastly underrated, yet experienced bloke who can pick the good from the bad just like that. Yet, it's packed on a Sunday and Ginger Grant, the hostess, is your friend if she's awake enough to do her job well enough that evening. You decide. She's the one with the tired face that announces everything. You could hit her in the face with a golf ball and she wouldn't blink an eyelash, just keep mumbling her prayer that this gets over quickly enough so I can get to bed and wake up the next day to have sex with whomever I want, not who I must to pay the rent. Well, drinks are nearly for free with 2 buck long island iced teas and beer pitchers that are about 3 to 3.50 a piece. The Greek chick that does drag is the best around and can claim up to $500 a night for her live performances. Watch that one. Avoid Shay LaVie as she has tumors on her left leg and can't dance well despite what anyone says to the contrary. Also, watch for the most hated ballerina present, because she's the best, the most belligerent Shiny Spears. She can tell a lie, so be careful of that little witch with the narrow belly. Cowboy gear is a plus if you can afford such paraphenalia in addition to your everyday suits and ties. Farewell, I've said enough.

What a great bar! Very friendly staff especially Ginger & Vivian. Something going on every night and allways drink specials. A little crowded on weekends but sometimes that's good.

The conceited and convinced crowd

Unlike Charlie's Denver and Chicago with their down home friendly crowds but similar to Charlie's Phoenix with the conceited and convinced "they're all that" crowd, don't waste your time nor money. Disinterested staff and unfriendly "wannabes" posing with cowboy hats as though they're in West Hollywood are huge turn offs. Charlie's Phx went down the toilet a few years ago, this place started in the toilet.

Okay, this was avery pleasant surprise. Late Sunday afternoon for Beer Bust. Staff was friendly and cute. Country music and the men who like it... a very good mix. Went with a girl friend of ours and she was made to feel at home. So they are not only nice at Charlies but gentlemen. Will be back and recommend highly.

I was there on Thursday evening September 13 for a few hours visiting from Pittsburgh. When ready to leave, I asked the bartender if he could call me a cab and was treated very rudely. Thanks for the "hospitality" NONE.

Makes Line Dancing Fun Again

Great place to go and listen to country music and line dance. Only drawback is the bad air conditioning and excessive smoke. During the summer months you have to go outside for breathing breaks. Otherwise a blast.
