This was not my first visit and I want to preface it by saying the owner John is a warm and gracious host, he has put a lot of effort into his hotel but its showing signs of wear and certain areas could use sprucing up. With the slower economy and competition from Strip hotels that are whoring out their hotel rooms it’s obvious it has hurt his business. And, with the inability to charge higher room rates it‘s harder to pay for these improvements, and I get it. I try to support Gay owned businesses whenever possible, and I don't want to dissuade anyone. Keep in mind everyone’s standards are different and what some of us will accept, others won’t. My observations: Comfortable mattresses and pillows-my mattress felt like a cloud! The linens were nice but not as soft and silky as I remember them during past stays. Pretty quiet except for the morning housekeeping staff talking loudly in the hallways and waking me up at 6::30 otherwise, surprisingly quiet considering it's right behind a major highway, perhaps it’s the new windows! The Rooms are small along the pool and overall, the furniture-mainly the beds are "Far" too big and ill fitted. Much of the furniture seems to be cast-offs from another hotel’s redoes, a bit outdated, worn, and scratched up. I was unable to sit on the edge of my bed without hurting my legs on the frame that wraps around the mattress. The solution would be simple, let the bed stand on a bed frame and get rid of the horrible frame. TV was an old 19" BOX, there was a small fridge and absolutely no outlets to plug my computer and phone into near the desk-huge problem for me. The shade was a room darkening honeycomb type, so it was either open or closed no in-between. Not enough lighting in the room I was in, I'm sure some are fine. Bathroom was adequate but I wore my flip flops because the floor of the tub was dirty and black "absolutely no excuse”. Grouting was dirty, shower curtain stained. Towels were adequate but the face towels were new and not pre-washed and felt rough on the skin-stickers were still on them...I guess they use a service and they must have taken a short-cut. Bath soaps were adequate, and nothing special, not as nice as I remember them in past stays including fanciful extras like hangover pills and such. Vanity lights generated a lot of heat and there was no bathroom fan to vent the steam. Playroom was very sparse, one long high bench which was uncomfortable and thinly padded. 2 small flat TV's which was a poor show; one 60 inch would look amazing or two 40" ones. This room could be made a bit more inviting and interesting. Steam room was just ok; never quite hot enough but clean and well maintained-except for the door that doesn’t close and wastes heat every time it gets stuck. Of the 4 shower heads in the steam area, one was missing a head, one was too low, one had a broken head that was hanging and the other had no water pressure-stuff like this is really easy to fix, why it's not taken care of is beyond my understanding. Breakfast was nice, muffins, bagels juice coffee (but no regular cream, only vanilla, which I hate) no small tables or bar to eat at and no trays to take anything to your room, I imagine you could go poolside in warmer weather… this area could be improved, loved the cereal options. Overall, friendly staff which could use standard uniforms or shirts so they don’t look like guests, a simple logo-polo and khaki’s would be great! And give them a great look. Personally I would not stay there again because I am more particular than the average traveler and I know this; but for many of you who are more forgiving, you might be fine. It’s not like the parliament house in Orlando or a bath-house if that’s what you’re looking for. I would at least get a day-pass to enjoy the pool and activities; it is clothing optional!

It’s a nice place to say, the rooms were nice and clean and the staff was very nice. It is kind of far from the strip, so it is good to have a car. I was there mid-week and was very cold out, so there was not much going on in the pool area and my date was not interested in using the other facilities that they offer . I would like to visit when the weather is warmer and with fun people.

NICE - But needs to be more accommodating to day pass guests

I stopped by this place for the first time with a day pass over Labor Day weekend just to check it out. It was much nicer than I thought it was going to be after reading several reviews. The building is an older motel building that has been updated nicely. I think the décor was well thought out and is appropriate for the age of the building. The public and pool areas have been nicely upgraded and the staff was very welcoming. + When I arrived, the pool was packed with attractive men. I will be back, but I had 2 complaints – thus the removal of one star. 1. The pool area was so crowded that there wasn’t any place to sit – I just had a day pass. More pool chairs and locker space need to be added. I ended up sitting on the pool deck. 2. I have been to a few other clothing optional resorts before in Palm Springs & Fort Lauderdale. At least 50% of the crowd at any given time would take advantage of the nudity option. Here there were only a couple guys out of about 30 that were tanning all over.

Great Place, visited July 9-10 2011

Great place to relax, nobody bothers you unless you want to be bothered that is ;). The video room and the large shower area is what enjoyed most , however the nonstop porn in the rooms is pretty nice too and the staff is very accommodating. This is 1 of the best hotels I have stayed in.

Great place, but the disco music when you're trying to relax in the pool area an 9:00am is just too much. How about having the music start about 5:00 to accomodate us people over 30.

I was referred to the Blue Moon resort by friends and stayed this past week 7-25-7-29-2010 and Im so glad I did, the accomodations are clean,crisp, tastefully done , The staff are very friendly,down to earth and always a smile and hello to all,always accomodating to the guests and there to help The pool area is great as are steam room ect... . Free breakfast in the morning and hot coffee ready early in am .This is a great place for gay men or gay couple to relax and be themselves, irregardless of background size, shape and such. I have made some good new friends this week and had good rest and fun as well. I highly recommend the Blue Moon for a relaxing and fun getaway.Again many thanks to John and awesome staff at the Blue Moon. you guys are great. Sincerely... Billy from San Antonio Texas

Nice place, interesting mix

Rooms are clean, though modestly equiped and some thought was put into their most recent redesign. The building itself shows its age, but is not run-down or grimy, just dated. The pool has an interesting mix of locals and out of towners, which is cool because you can get the insude scoop on local goings on. There is little attitude at the pool, but there were a couple locals who were there Friday-Sunday and spent most of the day drunk and slightly obnoxious. Poolside nudity is about 50/50 and, as usual, the guys you want to see naked are invariably wearing trunks and vice versa. In spite of the numerous "no lewd conduct" signs at the pool, we were all treated to the sight of an older gentleman getting a handjob from a (slightly) younger gentleman while floating on one of the pool rafts. A car is useful if you planon sight-seeing, but lets face it, it is usually WAY too hot to walk anywhere in Vegas anyway! Staff is nice and seems to be discreet. All in all an interesting alternative to you standard Vegas hotel.

A worthwhile resort on the cruisy side

I visited in early June and the poolside and hotel was packed full of men of all shapes and sizes. While there were too many fashionable swimsuits for my liking, it didn't seem that many of the men were full of attitude; if anything most me were too themselves catching some sun, swimming, or reading a book. Occasionally they'd look up and smile, and later on you'd make a connection with them in the steam room or video room. The pool area is beautiful, and my only complaint is that it is hard to find an unoccupied lounge chair. The rooms are adequate and updated, not luxurious but far from trashy. However, your furnishings are basic and simple, so if you are looking for a romanticly posh retreat for you and your lover I would suggest staying elsewhere. This resort is definitely for the single traveler who wants to meet with new friends, or for open partners who are open to new experiences.

The hotel is a little off the beaten path, you really need a car if you stay here. Though its only a few blocks from the strip ( the way the crow flies ) , the walk could be a little dangerous since there are no sidewalks along a very busy highway. Thete was a party while we there and the place was very crowded with a bunch of young party queens who had no respect for the guests of the hotel. While i am no prude, i was a little put of by the party boys having sex in every nook and cranny that they could find. On the day of the party the staff at the hotel were too busy to clean the room. I felt that the local party boys were more important than the paying guest of the hotel. I would stay there again, but would make sure there were no partys for the locals during my visit.

It is what a GAY hotel should be

It has all the elements most gay people expect from a gay hotel. It is small which makes it cozy. It has a cute pool and nice rooms, and it is clean. It is not the Bellagio in terms of luxury, but it does not need to be. Personally, I go to a gay hotel for the fun of being surrounded by gay guys, not to have dinner with Celine Dion. I agree the location can be a handicap if you do not have a car. But also, we have to understand that it is hard (to almost impossible) to have a clothing optional gay hotel in the middle of the strip. It is very similar to the gay hotels in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Great hotel!

10-15 minute walk to the north end of the strip near stratosphere and circus circus. Over the bridge and your at the strip. Facilities are great, rooms are beautiful, i would recommend the hotel for sure.

Excellent Resort - OK Location

The Blue Moon Resort is awesome! Don't let outside exterior fool you -- it looks like it was an old Quality Inn or something from the outside -- but the moment you walk in the front door you can see and feel the renovations. They have renovated they hell out of this property -- rooms and lighting are phenomenal. There's gay porn on the cable TVs and naked men at the clothing optional pool, waterfall, Jacuzzi and steam room. There is a small breakfast / sundry store for snacks and such but no full service restaurant. If you happen to be there during a special event party weekend, which I hope you are, the pool will be packed, and the locals will be paying to get into your party. On party weekends like this, they have a bar, hire a DJ and go-go dancers to keep the party flowing. The only downside: You need to take a cab to the strip or local gay bars. Nothing is walking distance, and I usually like to walk in foreign cities so I can get a feel for the community. Not here... this is Vegas baby!

Went to Las Vegas to have a good time. This place is a real dump. Dirty and a dump. A long way from the strip. Really nothing more than a bathouse with the exception that they charge high dollars for nothing. Would never stay there again.

This is the only real gay place to stay in Vegas. The rooms are nice and the staff is pleasant; but the noise from the freeway is deafening. Fun activity around the pool and, usually, there are one or two hustlers working the crowd.

Fun Place but Poor Location

Blue Moon has lots of fun stuff happening. Check their website for the latest event. It's really the only gay resort in Las Vegas, so it has that going for it. The rooms were recently redecorated, and I thought they were fairly nice, but still not luxurious. If you're used to the luxurious hotels on The Strip, this is NOT like that! It's a remodeled TraveLodge. Now, about the location... it's adjacent to the I-15 freeway and there is a lot of traffic noise at the pool. If you stay here, it's really just for the gay/sexual environment, which is worth considering!

It is a nice place for a person to go in. People are nice and can meet some nice people also. I met my boy at you.Yesterday he took me to a place where anyone can get dressed as a BRIDE.After few hours at the studio we went to hotel.Everybody in the loby was looking at me.I had to carry my Wail in my hand.It was a great experience to me. As a crossdresser I am so grateful to you all at Blue Moon. This is a crossdresser friendly place. I can recomand to any of our girls, those are in fear to go out that you all can come to this place and be what you are.

Had a better time at The Bellagio!

My bf and I checked out this place when we were in Las Vegas over the weekend. we met someone staying there online and went to have some "fun." Blue Moon is in a remote location and will cost you a $15 cab ride to get to the strip. We were shown a room and the grounds. The pool was busy but with mostly older guys and not what we were looking for. It would be a great place to visit if you are looking to get away from it all and want a quiet place. I'm sure if you wanted some action you could find it.

Fun place in a remote location

The resort has a lot of good attributes and one major negative. The rooms are nicely decorated with a comfortable bed. The grounds, pool and sundeck are attractive. Amenities include 10 man Jacuzzi enclosed in a poolside cave with waterfall, steam room, showers, locker area, video room and a break/internet lounge. They offer a typical nice motel continental breakfast and Sundays feature an afternoon BBQ. Both the overnight and day pass guests were diverse and friendly. The staff was helpful when you tracked them down. The depressing part is the location. It is located in the industrial district about 4 blocks west of Circus Circus. There is nothing around other then warehouses, light industrial businesses and a couple seedy hetero strip clubs. Nothing. No fast-food, sandwich shops, convenience or liquor stores. And it is 45 minute walk to the Strip or a $12 cab ride. Despite the location, we had an enjoyable and restful time. We especially enjoyed sitting around the pool all day reading and watching the guys go by. We would stay there again or visit with a day pass.

it will become a world class gay destination. The hotel is generally clean and the rooms are comfortable. The pool and grotto great are sunning and relaxing. The staff needs to be more customer service focused. Hustlers are commonplace on the property.
