From the moment you enter the Bellagio, you are inundated with decadence. Just look up at the ceiling of the lobby and you'll see a breathtaking installation piece by famed glass blower Dale Chihuly. This is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the attention to detail throughout the hotel.

First, I have to say that my 2-star rating shocks me! I was expecting to give this property 4 or 5 stars. After my partner and I drove the four hours from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, we were faced with a 30-minute wait in line to check into our room. The lobby was filled with understandably irritated travelers. Perhaps this is a Las Vegas standard, but it isn't something that should be found at a luxurious hotel like Bellagio. Finally getting our turn at check-in, we were told that our non-smoking room was not available, and that a non-smoking room might not be available that day at all. We accepted the smoking room, but when we arrived in the room, the smoking odor was overwhelming. Housekeeping agreed to "fog" the room, which helped somewhat, but not a lot. OK, now for the pluses... the room was very tastefully furnished and the bathroom was beautiful, complete with a separate spa tub and shower. It was fun to be able to operate the draperies electrically using the button on the wall next to the bed. The fountain shows in the front of the hotel were impressive and fun to watch. I will still choose another hotel for my next visit to Las Vegas.
