Best Bar In Town
We visited Gipsy on May 13th while on vacation, and we both had a great time!! The staff was very friedly and made us feel like we were at home at are own neighborhood bar.We even met a couple people from our area in Northwest Illinois (crazy, huh!)I'd recomend Gipsy to everyone, and plan to come back next time we're in town!!!
Best to go when they have drag shows
Crowd is better on show nights and especially on Sundays. Good mix of people
Why is it empty when next door it's packed?
We went here two weekend nights after midnite and found an empty bar. There was no cover charge here but next door 50 people were lined up to pay $20 to get into Piranha and 8 1/2. We came, we saw, we left. Must get busier at different times because it would not be here if there was always only 3 patrons. But on the positive side of things it is across the street from 4 other bars on the fruit loop so your cab fare isn't wasted.
When does the party start?
Went there before we walked next door to 8 1/2. The one bright spot was the bartender from Bulgaria. Pretty hot. Definitely friendly. Seemed to us that being NBA all star weekend this place would be hopping...NOT!!!, nice set up, great setting just no folks in the joint at almost 11p, Perhaps we went to early. After heading nextdoor to 8 1/2 we did not return.
Dolly Parton Impersonator
I just want to say that when I had gone here on Sept 16th 2006 the Dolly Parton impersonator was INCREDABLE! She made my whole trip. I could have watched her perform for hours or even days! I could go on and on but I don't want to seem like a blubering star struck idiot. The show was great and it was really cool to see the performers do different looks and characters. I have dated female illusionists before (Miss Long Island, Miss Upstate NY and a few others who just always looked great but never competed) but their talent or others here in NY don't compare to you, Miss Dolly. The music and the atmosphere where really nice here. I like a place that you can actually move from one end to another without having to push and shove. I just want to say thank you again for your talent.
